Can Some Newer Horizons In Animal Crossing: New Horizons Be Adapted Into An Anime?

Minasan, Kon’nichiwa! During the announcement and reveal of festive Helluva Boss merchandise featuring Vassago bringing on some Coco vibes in honour of Día de los Muertos, also known as “The Day of the Dead” [4] [18] [50], I suddenly suspected that the forthcoming Version 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the game’s imminent Nintendo Switch 2 edition could be promoted in a certain way sometime after its release and overall reception [23] [56] [57], yet such an idea has not been confirmed. Nearly three years ago, we have discussed the new of a modern Animal Crossing anime movie based on the New Horizons era that ought to be release worldwide to make up for those who missed out on the cute and wholesome film that was only released in Japan back in the second half of the 2000s [26] [54] [55]. The premise can be a new human protagonist agreeing to help the hotel become successful in what can be considered a G-rated Hazbin Hotel, but perhaps without musical numbers [39] [40]. There can be some backstories on how Grams raised Kapp’n, how he met and fell in love with Leilani, and the time shortly after their daughter was born to flesh out the tribe and humanise them a little more in comparison to plenty of Club Penguin players learning that Aunt Arctic used to be pink [28] [29] [30] [37]. But because of the franchise’s overall light-heartedness, aside from awareness of art forgery [21] [22], please make an anime series as hilarious as Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Deserted Island Diary [44] [45] [46] [47] [48]! Chances are that series may only last for one or two seasons, but with plenty of focus on the notable aspects of the Version 3.0 update for the sake of some individuality without repeating what has already been done in the little manga libraries [31], it can be praised for a being faithful adaptation, much like how the film about an adorable human girl named “Ai” was [26] [27].

There can be a scene of the new protagonist playing a game on their Famicom they buy from Grams [23], quite like in the scene in Super Mario Bros.: Peach-hime Kyūshutsu Dai Sakusen!, another film based on a franchise created by Nintendo that was only released in Japan, where Mario plays the game on his Famicom late at night [52]. [23]

Reflecting on how certain villagers, including Margie and Whitney, made an appearance in the Japan-exclusive movie known as “Gekijōban Doubutsu no Mori” [2] [54] [55], perhaps villagers who did not appear in the film or in the Deserted Island Diary manga, such as Cookie, my sister’s favourite villager back in the City Folk days [22], Eugene, my avatar’s boyfriend in Pocket Camp [56] [57], and Lucy, whose proposed appearance in the film was sadly scrapped during its development [27], can be given a chance to shine as guests at the hotel, but there ought to not be too many of them for the sake of competent focus, pacing, and character development. Oh! And perhaps that villager that was scrapped during the development of the first Animal Crossing game can make an appearance in the anime and have a unique name like “Renna“ or “Chestnut” [6] [7] [33], as unlikely as that sounds. Labelle can be a special guest to analyse the fashion trends that originated from the hotel’s mannequins [21] [23], quite like how her two sisters played their usual supporting roles in Gekijōban Doubutsu no Mori [2] [26] [27]. The guests’ rooms ought to be uniquely stylised to express how varied they can be in the Version 3.0 update [23] [56] [57]. The tourists who agree to stay at the hotel during their vacations can provide some wit and character development throughout an anime series, though chances are that it may only be exclusive for animal crossers in Japan [2] [26].

Perhaps Resetti can reflect on how he has worked on his anger issues, including one time when he lost it over blue roses being trampled on as a reference to Gekijōban Doubutsu no Mori [26] [27], as he performs his new cleaning duties on the island as an element of character development [23]. If only it could have worked for a sequel to this event titled “Mario and Sonic and the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games” featuring Pauline, Wave the Swallow, the other four Koopalings, and the other four members of the Deadly Six from Sonic Lost World [49] [51] [59]. [51]

It looks like Ai was originally going to have pink hair during the development of Gekijōban Doubutsu no Mori [27]. Considering how her nose is not the usual red triangle in the film [2] [27], perhaps a new protagonist in an anime series based on the upcoming Version 3.0 update for New Horizons can have a square nose or a round nose, as well as green, grey, sky blue or cyan hair, in honour of how far the customisation has come since the first generation of the franchise [21] [22] [32]. And yes, they can also consist of the same cutesy anime eyes Ai was known for [2] [26] [27]. [27]

And indeed, we can count on animated adaptations that shall definitely continue, with a notable example being the second season of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft that will premiere on Netflix this December [53]. In the meantime, keep expressing your creativity and counting on forms of escapism every now and then [1] [38] [42]. I know I will during a difficult time I am currently going through. Let us keep striving against bigotry that will put you off X, formerly known as “Twitter”, for life and spread kindness to those in need [43] [60]. Sayonara!

I have a feeling that the Version 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons will bring on an engaging new chapter of the era, especially in the Switch 2 edition [56] [57]. But for now, kudos to Kyu for an interesting Animal Crossing: New Leaf mod titled “Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome Luxury” [35] [36], especially for the golden apples and rainbow roses that add an imaginative aesthetic [14] [15]. And gosh darn it, Gulliver! Why do you keep getting washed up on the beach [21]?! Please stop already! [23]

What If Crash Bandicoot Can Have His Own Anime Series?

A week ago, we discussed how an anime series starring no other than Crash Bandicoot could bring his cutesier design for marketing in Japan into a modernised but nostalgically faithful spotlight, as unlikely as that sounds since it can be argued that Crash is better off in his own CGI television series outside of the Skylanders lore instead [5] [100] [101]. And of course, being a Western player, I hold no bias against the original green-eyed goofball [79], yet his “cool dude in the mid-2000s” design from Crash of the Titans might have been considered even more unappealing to many players in Japan [1] [21] [64] [78]. Since I strongly believe that a new anime series focused on new adventures for the Japanese version of him can especially appeal to women in their twenties [21] [100] [101], let us expand on how such an idea can be executed wonderfully (and not be as utterly disappointing as the cool superhero tune from trying on a zap suit or zap helmet in Animal Crossing: City Folk being completely absent in Animal Crossing: New Horizons [44] [53] [54]) aside from how nervous some of us are about the rumoured North American equivalent of TikTok that is internally referred to as “M2” and is set to be launched this September, thus possibly replacing TikTok entirely in the U.S. by March 2026 [30] [63] [100] [101].

Too bad Jak and Daxter never got their own anime series due to Jak II’s poor sales in Japan [24], but at least they once starred in two manga adaptions; one that ran from February 2002 to February 2003 and the other based on the events of Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontiers that was released in 2009 [37] [60]. [10]

It is honestly quite odd how the second official Korean dub of SpongeBob SquarePants is now airing on Cartoon Network in South Korea to many Western animation admirers if you think about it [22] [32] [76], but that is ultimately A-okay. To each their own. Furthermore, there was nothing wrong with Crash Bandicoot looking cuter for Japanese players back then and there would be nothing wrong with that in an anime or fourth manga series starring him in the near future [21] [23] [73] [78] [100] [101]. [12]

As previously stated, the art style in an anime centred on Crash’s legacy ought to be striking with the adorableness of his admirable Japanese design in the spotlight, as well as Coco with her brown eyes rather than her green ones [21] [100] [101]. As previously stated, a fourth manga for Crash can always occur if the budget for an anime cannot be hit…like that darn box he must have missed along the way [79] [100] [101]. Too bad the third volume of Crash Bandicoot: Dance! Then Jump! Na Daibōken was cancelled during its development [9]. [9]

Seeing Crash’s iconic dance return in an anime would be amazing [79]! Coco can join in too as she did it in the N-Sane Trilogy! [9]

As much as I believe that Stolas, the former prince of the Ars Goetia can build a new image for himself in the lowest class of Hell in the third season of Helluva Boss [57] [94] [95], I believe a rather short but effective anime series or a modern manga can provide some new character exploration that has not been in the Crash Bandicoot games before [100] [101]. Chances are that Crash will have a more childlike and less mischievous personality to go with his cuter design [23] [78], but he still ought to show some bravery like a hero would when it comes to foiling Dr. Cortex’s plan [79]. As previously mentioned, there ought to be some focus on Tawna’s relationship with Pinstripe Potoroo that is likely to lead to a breakup due to Potoroo’s antagonistic nature [100] [101]. There can also be some backstory for Catbat, the franchise’s first non-binary character [8]. Surely, the elements of character exploration in a Crash Bandicoot anime can be considered better and more convincing than the controversial portrayals of Stitch and Angel in certain moments in Stitch!, the anime series that takes place years after the original Lilo & Stitch saga [4] [43] [62]. But of course, save enough room for humour that might as well be like the comedy in Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Deserted Island Diary [61].

I would not be surprised if Aku Aku has been a fan of manga behind the scenes [9]. He might as well break the fourth wall in a new Crash Bandicoot anime or manga like how he did in the Japanese version of Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back [21] [73] [78], but in a wittier way like Deadpool would. Trust me, I know from experience [83] [89]. [9]

Spyro may have faded into obscurity in Japan after the overall reception of the Japanese version of Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage! [25], but if he were to make a surprise guest appearance in a Crash Bandicoot anime, he might as well have those cute Pac-Man eyes to go with his classic look from the original Spyro trilogy [25] [67] [100] [101]. The collaboration ought to be portrayed sparingly though as some of us have been concerned about Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds being almost as reliant on crossovers as Fortnite: Battle Royale and Minecraft these days [2] [26] [28] [33] [38] [34] [47]. What else can help a Crash Bandicoot anime excel? Surely, the scrapped animated introduction for the first game would not appeal to every PlayStation player [20], but I bet there can be a cheery Japanese theme song for the anime’s intro that can be about as promising as the Japanese openings for Stitch! and Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z is awesome [27]! As for musical numbers in Western media, can you imagine Talking Hank singing about the awesomeness of the 1990s and Talking Becca singing about how groovy the 1970s were in an updated adaptation of “Tom After Tom” [31] [69] [70] [71]? [27]

Why not let Cortex sing an official theme song for a Crash Bandicoot anime for our amusement? Too bad it wouldn’t work for Dr. Nefarious [66]… [9]

 
It is more likely that Sonic the Hedgehog will dash through a new anime adaption as he was referenced in an episode of Uncle From Another World [36], but we can always suspect that Crash Bandicoot’s Japanese counterpart will return in a fourth manga series [9] [10] [11]. I am not saying that an anime or modern manga starring Naughty Dog’s original PlayStation star should happen [100] [101], but more importantly, we must vow to ensure that fan communities and game development studios will be safer places, especially after the horrific reports of harassment at Activision Blizzard and toxicity that crossed some lines in certain fanbases and that proactivity can still bloom like a field of flowers [42] [81] [82] [103], even after unfortunate layoffs [6], a burnout [74], the loss of a loved one, a fear-inducing political mishap or a sudden yearning for the simpler times back [3] [50] [51] [75] [77]. As we continue to be kind, we can still count on our coping mechanisms as the English translation of Deadpool: Samurai, Volume 3 will be on book shop shelves this Autumn [40] [41] [86]. Keep following the passions that remind you of the person you are [39] [58], even when it feels like being part of a parade in Disneyland on a terribly rainy day [18].

Of course, I am not saying that an anime series or modern manga centred on the Japanese version of Crash Bandicoot must definitely be made as it is far more likely that Vox, Velvette and Valentino from Hazbin Hotel will star in their own spin-off at some point after the series’ conclusion [7] [48]. We can always hope to see most of those villagers who only appeared in Dōbutsu no Mori e+ return in either a Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Animal Crossing: New Horizons or a direct sequel to it exclusively on the Switch 2 [84] [85] [90] [91] [92] [93], read an Astro Bot manga [98] [99], watch a considerably more effective series starring Sonic the Hedgehog or perhaps see Sydney Sweeney as a new Skipper in a direct sequel to Barbie: The Movie [16] [45] [59] [87] [88]. I am personally hoping to watch a new episode of Helluva Boss that could be inspired by those film noirs from the 1940s and 1950s [58] [80] [94] [95], possibly introduce a new and accurately portrayed autistic character or feature a deathcore or death metal musical number - Aggretsuko style [55]. [10]
