Tomb Raider: The Legend Of Lara Croft - An Anticipated Anime On Netflix This Autumn

The evening after the rise of “The Full Moon”, the sixteenth episode of Helluva Boss [26] [36], the date announcement trailer for Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, otherwise known as the “Danger” trailer was discovered like a relic in a raided tomb [27] [41]. Almost a year ago, we were quite thrilled by the grittiness of the announcement trailer [59]. Previously this year, we re-experienced the trilogy of the iconic archaeologist’s adventures and she made a special guest appearance in Hero Wars: Alliance [18]. This Autumn, we will finally see her strive for survival and discoveries in a highly anticipated anime series divided into two seasons, starting with the first one [27] [41] [42]. In the meantime, Gundam knows how Ms. Croft felt when she made a special guest appearance in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile near the time the teaser trailer pumped up the hype [6] [9] [59]. Without further ado, I shall bear even more intensity with you as we take a closer look into the potential of the first season of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft beyond the days of the mostly tarnishing censorship spell being cast by 4kids Entertainment [10] [17] [24] [27] [41] [42] [49]. Yes, I am still rather overjoyed over an unintended prediction of mine from 2019 coming true [50] [51] [52] [53].
 

You are darn right this is a legend, “Danger” Trailer [42]! [41]

There is a variety of dangerous, yet adventurous quests Lara will go on throughout her journey [27] [41] [42], making the upcoming series seem highly faithful to what made the games praiseworthy in terms of gameplay and female empowerment in the first place [65]. This begins with a shot of Ms. Croft looking at the view of a temple followed by an intense moment of her sprinting across a trail of rocks in a pit of lava [27] [41] [42]. There is also a scene of her sky diving, quite like how Barbie does in the opening cutscene of Secret Agent Barbie and her crouching in what appears to be her stealth outfit [48], which is a vague reminder of Metal Gear Solid to me for some reason [63]. The series will take place after the events of Shadow of the Tomb Raider [46] [59], meaning that Ms. Croft will show that she has toughened up even more, leading to some classic Tomb Raider vibes [65], but chances are that she will express a few signs of Survivor’s guilt [19] [64], quite like how Alice Liddell does, along with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of her family perishing in a house fire in Alice: Madness Returns [2].

And yes, this outfit is also a vague reminder of Sly Cooper due to its colour palette [21] [29]. [27] [41]

Remember this moment from the teaser trailer [59]? You can tell that the tone and setting in Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft will be quite the opposite of the comedic aspects and colourful underworld surrealism of Helluva Boss [25] [27] [41] [42], most notably in the most recent episode titled “The Full Moon” as I consider its sex joke level about OVER NINE THOUSAND [12] [26]!!! No worries if you would prefer more light-hearted scenarios in anime though…or both [32]. [27] [41]

Aside from our English heroine confronting her destiny after a thief stole an artefact from Croft Manor [46] [47], there appear to be some supporting characters. There is a middle-aged male character who seems to be a mentor, much like how Conrad Roth was before his death in the first game in the Survivor timeline [43]. He tells her that danger is her friend, providing some similar method of encouragement that Roth did as he told her that she is a Croft [16]. The group of folks she runs towards across a sinking pathway appear to be a group of travellers…or survivors [27] [41] [42], including who appears to be Jonah Maiava, another close friend of Lara’s who appeared in the reboot and became quite an important character ever since [44]. He is later seen sliding across some gravel before taking a leap of fate over spike rocks with her [27] [41] [42]. Who knows when a new incarnation of Zip from the other two timelines will make his debut [46] [59]? It would be vital that the supporting roles provide some significance throughout Lara’s journey [27] [41] [42]. After all, identifying aspects of overall character development and how effective a supporting character’s purpose and personality are would be a lot more rational and constructive than crying “Woke!” at certain aspects of them [40] [57] [58] [62], right?

That looks fun! Do I get a turn? [27] [41]

I cannot get over how outstanding the animation is, especially how it enriches the action scenes shown throughout the date announcement trailer by the power of talent from Powerhouse Animation [23] [27] [41] [42] [59], considering it is an anime series, of course. The vibrance of the exterior of a temple at the beginning of the “Danger” trailer is quite comparable to the setting in the plays starring Kung Fu Peach in Princess Peach: Showtime! [27] [28] [41] [42]. There are quite a lot of effects that enhance the liveliness and realism, such as the bubbles from Lara’s fall into what appears to be a murky river and the shine on the edge of her rifle in another scene [27] [41] [42]. The peril is present, but there are no moments of blood and gore apart from a few marks on Croft’s arms and elegant face, which adds to the speculation of the anime series sticking to the standards of the Japanese version of Shadow of the Tomb Raider regarding violent and gruesome content [11] [59]. As previously mentioned, there is a small variety of outfits for Ms. Croft to wear, depending on the task aside from her main attire adapted from Shadow of the Tomb Raider [27] [41] [42] [59]. But as much as we adore the advanced artistry of anime, please show some support and compassion for all the animators who were affected by the troubling working conditions at certain anime studios in Japan [3] [60] [61].

Ooh la la! Here is some concept art for a formal dress Lara will wear at a fancy party scene from Legendary Pictures, the company that produced the series with the cooperation of Crystal Dynamics [23] [46]! I am not sure about wearing trainers with it unless it is for a certain stunt to be pulled. Speaking of female video game characters in different outfits, I still stand by how a DLC pack for Princess Peach: Showtime! can consist of some new pink variants of the costume Peach wears to save Sparkle Theatre [28] [30] [60] [61]. [46]

Once again, Lara’s character design in Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft reminds me of Korra from The Legend of Korra [5] [59]. I strongly believe that she will be the brains, brawn and beauty in the first and second seasons of her own anime series [59], but just because we can support female empowerment in fiction [16] [28] [64] [65], does not mean we need to entirely disregard the strengths of male colleagues as Jonah is sure to maintain his value as a supporting character [37] [44]. [27] [41]

The first season of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft is set to premiere on Netflix on the 10th of this October after over three years of all the hype for it [27] [41] [42] [46] [50] [51]. This also marks the twelfth anniversary of the launch of a 10th-anniversary line of Bratz dolls that were released in honour of the 10th anniversary of the Bratz franchise (even though it began in 2001 [56]) [8]. Speaking of anniversaries, the second season of the anime could be part of celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Tomb Raider franchise if it were to premiere in 2026 [59], but who knows exactly when it will be marketed and released after the overall reception of the first season in late 2024 [27] [41]? The same is felt about the second season of Hazbin Hotel on Prime Video [54] [55]. In the meantime, we sinners dare to go on an apology tour in the VivziePop circles of Hell in the next episode of Helluva Boss later this month [25] [57] [58]. Furthermore, I bid you a Happy Pride Month in honour of equality and letting love be love as we stand with the LGBTQIA+ community [7] [13] [22] [31] [33] [35] [38], including the simmers who can relate to their own sims in same-sex relationships to a certain extent in their own copies of The Sims 2, The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 [4] [14] [15] [39].

It can be argued that Lara could be aroace due to her lack of sexual and romantic interest in the games [1] [65], despite that one love interest she had in her second live-action movie and the likeliness of her and Sam crushing on one another in the near future of the Survivor timeline [34] [45], but whether she is asexual or not [1], I shall root for her throughout the first season of her own anime series [27] [41] [42] [46] [59]. You go, girl! [27] [41]

Tomb Raider: The Legend Of Lara Croft - An Overdue Anime Adaption Raiding Netflix Soon

Calling all tomb raiders! Plenty of us may miss the 2013 times that were marked as “The Year Of Luigi” and a new origin of Lara Croft [12] [14] [26], but we know that there is still more to look forward to in the second half of 2023 and so on, including the tenth-anniversary celebration of Slender: The Arrival this Halloween season [31] [55], the first issue of Deadpool: Seven Slaughters this November [19], Disney’s Wish this Thanksgiving and a new anime series that has just been teased this week [31] [45]. It has been over a year since the announcement of an anime series based on the Tomb Raider franchise coming to Netflix [28] [49] [50]. By the name of “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft”, the upcoming anime series has a lot of potential to bring the intelligent brunette bombshell into a new light for anime admirers, starting with its premiere in Japan [41] [42], aside from how the Japanese versions of the classic games’ consisted of reduced difficulty [9]. Rooting for female empowerment outside of women’s sports [16] [21], I shall bear the intensity of the teaser with you as my soul bears the quite unfortunate yet seemingly reasonable delay of Hazbin Hotel that will be available to watch on Amazon Prime in the beginning of 2024 [2] [4] [20].

Hentai would be my least favourite genre of anime, so please do not even think about it [27]! [41]

I know what some Final Fantasy fighters are thinking. Wouldn’t Lara’s appearance in the anime series be like her appearance in War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius that bewitched us two years ago [34] [46]? I completely understand where they are coming from! But in this case, I am spellbound at how she will look in Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft [41]! Her design is heavily based on her appearance in Shadow of the Tomb Raider [8] [33]. The teaser begins with a rather tense moment of a shot of her holding her bow and arrow gradually sharpening [41]. No pun intended. The following moment shows another example of visual ecstasy as the sound of a heart besting drones on. Most impressively, the moment of her standing determinedly with her bow and arrow returns, focusing on her glare, then directly on the edge of her arrow that gets launched. The reason for the enriching visuals is that the production of the anime is by Powerhouse Animation, the same studio that created the animated series loosely based on the Castlevania franchise [24] [42] [47]. Aside from how remarkable the visuals are in the teaser [41], there will be hope for the series’ writing to excel as well, which might be hinted at in the second trailer that may also feature its exact release date.

Here is the classic incarnation of Lara in an anime style in one of the collaborations she did in honour of the 25^thanniversary of the Tomb Raider franchise back in 2021 [34]. [46]

Eat your heart out, Katniss Everdeen [35] [36] [37] [38]! [41]

Aside from some samples of exceptional animation in the teaser, let us reflect on what I have suggested for making the success of a Tomb Raider anime happen back in 2019 and 2021 [49] [50] [51] [52]. Aside from how Lara’s face in the teaser somehow reminds me of Korra from The Legend of Korra [1], I recall stating that her portrayal ought to be a balance of emotional and empowering [51] [52], no matter which dub the series will be watched in [49] [50]. In the teaser, there is a shot of Lara rising near a fire [41], which is a reminder of the memorable moment when she rises from almost drowning in Shadow of the Tomb Raider [33], which is a sign of that balance being taken into consideration in honour of a continuation. Currently, not much is known about the overall plot of the series, other than how it is set in the Survivor timeline [42]. Apparently, Croft will go on a road trip and protect those in need, making her the noble explorer we adore. Her design shown in the teaser hints that the anime series is likely to be based on the third chapter of the Survivor timeline with a few differences at first [41], much like how the live-action film starring Alicia Vikander as Lara is based on the events of the other two chapters [40]. However, it was confirmed that the anime will be set after the events of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, potentially unifying the Survivor timeline with some adapted aspects of the other two [42], which is much more necessary to me as there has been some questioning when will the Survivor Lara merge into a “classic” incarnation, as hinted in her participation in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Call Of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and Call Of Duty: Warzone Mobile [30]. Surely, the next trailer will provide some more detail on the premise set sometime after Shadow of the Tomb Raider, including what awaits her during a road trip [41] [42].

There ought to be some new discoveries throughout Croft’s road trip [42]. This majestically surreal occurrence appears to be one of them. [41]

Nonetheless, the grittiness of the forthcoming adaption ought to be another sample of anime that is not exactly colourful and cheery, compared to the magical girl vibes of Glitter Force Doki Doki and many of Hatsune Miku’s performances [10] [11]. Speaking of video game adaptions on Netflix, there might just be a satisfying conclusion to Sonic the Hedgehog’s most challenging adventure outside of his games in the third season of Sonic Prime [23]. It is likely that the anime series starring Lara Croft will be released in 2024, the same year when Hazbin Hotel will finally open and Littlest Pet Shop fans will rejoice for the grand return of the second generation of the franchise [5] [6] [18], thus never taking it for granted again [58]. It worked for the Bratz in honour of their 20th anniversary that was celebrated during the 25th anniversary of Tomb Raider, right [48] [49] [50] [53] [54]? During the wait for Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft alongside the hype for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered [29] [41], let us relish in more excitements in the second half of 2023, including the seventh episode of the second season of Helluva Boss [3] [15], Super Mario Bros. Wonder [25] [56] [57], Disney’s Wish and an animated adaptation of Scott Pilgrim’s crazy quest to win the heart of Ramona Flowers titled “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” [22] [45].

As much as I deeply appreciate a shout-out from Puss In Boots or Stolas of the Ars Goetia [32], I can already appreciate the efforts of an upcoming anime starring Lara Croft by its teaser [41].
